May, 2002 iCE Pack

  • Interview with DJ Monkeyboy
  • 'Happy Tree Tutorial' by Leonardo
  • ... and of course, our beloved newsletter"); ?>

  • 1. We'd like to welcome two new ansi guys to iCE! Enzo, a Brazilian law student, and The Creep Fever, a road construction worker who does art as a hobby. Enzo really rocks, and he's a good sport. He didn't mind it at all when we stripped him naked and repeatedly beat him with reeds. The Creep Fever was excused from the beating, because he was willing to eat the warm jello from "The Dirty Bowl". Both got a full round of applause after they got back from the medical folks. Thanks to Trip for using the paddles to bring the Ansi division back.

    2. Slothy was out in California this month for E3, seeing the many games on display, hanging with Dave Perry (from Shiny) at The Comedy Store, and generally having a good time in LA. Slothy's game, Savage, was a big success at E3. As an aside, Rogue Leader is one of the artists working on the game, and the sound effects for the E3 trailer were done by Basehead. Go Savage!

    3. Mongi left for Thailand this week, then Hong Kong. Since he'll be gone for the month and he was kind enough to finish up a pic for this pack, we'll go ahead and wish him a safe trip. Have fun, Patrick! Don't pick up too many of those Thailand boys!

    4. Be sure to check out our interview with DJ Monkeyboy this month. We dive into the many aspects of his life, from his art to his DJ'ing and even his clothing design.

    5. We also have another fantastic tutorial from Leonardo about how to draw a happy little tree. Go look, it's enlightening. Thanks, Leo!

    6. Finally, as usual, we have a couple of quilts from tiles.ice.org. First up is the Bizarro quilt, which turned out quite interestingly. Next we have the Grayscale quilt, where no colors were allowed. Go check them out and then go grab a tile at tiles.ice.org :)

    Forever yours,

    Great Pack!
Man, it's so nice to see a bunch of ansi in the pack. And Yonadaan's flash work is awesome. Great pics to everyone this month, although Ian Dale is starting to worry me. Australia must warp people's minds :)

Leo, great tutorial. DJ Monkeyboy, thanks for sharing about your life with us!

    how
can you put back a tile without doing any thing on it
    slothy
    Re: how
if you go to tiles.ice.org, you'll see a link telling you you can cancel your checked-out tile. That's what you can do, or you can wait for it to timeout and get cancelled automatically.

    Help us!
In honor is iCE's upcoming 10th Anniversary, we are putting together the top 100 viewer favorite pieces of artwork into a Windows screen saver. Each piece of art will have custom animation and descriptive text about the artist and the artwork.

Please feel free to nominate any art that you would like to see added. We would especially like artists to nominate their own favorite pieces so we don't have to choose for them.

If you have any interesting info about any of the art, or you are the artist and would like something else mentioned (like a greeting to someone), please let us know.

The entire process is automated at http://root88.ice.org/icesaver/

Re: Re: Re: Help us! mistake
    no problem.

We are nearing 100 pics nominated, but we need more people to vote. Please add your favorite images to the database if you can spare a minute.

    Re: New Visitor
nice concepts. id suggest studying some traditional painting techniques as well tho, so you can make your work look less sharp-edged and simplistic. that's something i always gotta watch out for in my own stuff wherever 3d elements are involved.
