February, 2001 iCE Pack

1. Mental note: check the expiration date on your milk. If it's greater than one month ago, you've probably survived the worst and can keep drinking it.

2. Here's a shocker! Nobody joined the group this month, and nobody quit.

3. The new www.ice.org went online finally! Come check out Jamie McCarter's excellent design for the new site! See all your favorite artists in their natural habitats. Collect them all!

4. Oh my gosh! Part of www.ice.org includes a new recode of tiles.ice.org! Some crackhead named Root88 did the starting tile for our third quilt, which is working out fantastically. Come check it out!

4. As usual, we have tons of neat things up our sleeves. Secret projects include something with both audio and images, but we're not saying what. Plus a special bonus -- massd promised to run in the giant hamster wheel for a full 30 minutes next month!

Kisses,
Slothy and Mass Delusion

Web-only special: Big wet one goes out to Fluor and Root88 for their excellent work this month.

Re: Once again...
Sothy!!!

After all these years, I can't believe the quality that has iCE has transcended to. BIG UPS.. and MAXIMUM respect. What are we on? 5th...6th generation iCE people? I love talking about the old days. Where all the boyz at? I assume Mr. Thales has finally married. Anyways.. gotta love iCE.. The only trajedy is, we dont have the BBS's anymore.

Re: Re: Once again...
Wow, hey BlackiRE. I certainly remember you, but I'm not sure there are a lot of ice guys or gals left who do. I don't know that I've ever calculated membership by generations, but 5-6 might even be about right. After around 1995 our turnover rate went through the floor. People stopped drawing or hit big-time jobs that prevented them from releasing with ice, but we didn't really lose anyone to other groups.

Thanks for the praise about the quality. I certainly take pride in associating myself with this group. I'm glad you're still proud to call yourself a member as well.

I have an email address for Mr. Thales if you want to get in touch with him again.

Yeah, we don't have the BBS's or the social filters that they provided, but we can do a lot more on the web now. I rather enjoy it :)

Who am I?
Trevor? Who is Trevor? I'm not Trevor!

Seriously I just come to this site and it says I'm logged in as haydn_99.. maybe because we both use Sympatico.

Re: Who am I?
wow, that is a really interesting bug. The sessions are stored in a cookie on the client, so I'm not sure how that could happen. I have code in there to check if we have more than 15 anonymous sessions from your IP in the last day, but it should never overlap with non-anonymous sessions. I hope that's not happening to others...

a blast from the past..
every now and then i've kept an eye open to see whatever happened to the old ansi groups... i even jumped on irc to see if #ice was still kickin around... it's great to see ice has transcended the metamorphisis the internet has taken since the bbs days... i tried to explain what the internet was like to a college buddy of mine before html and he didnt believe me.. i was just lookin' through an old pack ice-940?.zip at a spawn joint i did with slothy.. man its good to see you're still kickin around, your a tribute to your own passion.. good luck to ice in the future.. i'll check you out next month..

iCE... The early days...
Insane Creators Enterprise... SOmething that I have known for about 8 years. I am only 21, but when I first started messing around with BBS back in 8th grade, iCE was one of the greatest ACSII art groups around. Not sure what happened to the group ACiD. I guess they faded away. Hell I am not even sure any of the original iCE member are still around. But I thought I would post a message and see if anyone was from back in the day when the best drawing tool was ACiD Draw 4.0

its really great to see the art scene still thriving. i guess 2 months without releasing a new pack is ok :) seriously, like the guy way below me im 21 and have been into the art scene since 94. recently i decided to see if #ansi and #ice, the websites, etc were still around ... its awesome that they are. seriously guys, keep up the good work.

Re: w00t
Actually we've never missed a month. The packs are named somewhat poorly. The March pack contains art from the month of March, but it comes out in April, etc.

The delay for this month is entirely scheduling problems with the senior staff. I think I'm going to put the new pack online tonight in fact. Hopefully I'll have enough time.
