May, 2001 iCE Pack

1. Well, well, what have we been doing with ourselves? For the third month in a row we have a new memb- oh! Wait, let me look at this again... *shakes the paper*. Wha? I'm sorry I must be going mad. I think my brain has returned to its standard inoperable state, but it appears that we have over 50 new members?! This should teach us not to drink the cheap stuff...

1a. Tinster has come over for some fun in the sun. Brought his trunks, rubber arm floats and everything! He has done some wild work on a few PS titles, flash work for EMusic and is laying down tiles like a madman. Welcome tinster! (yes! this is where you all clap) . . . (com'on, clap damnit!)

1b. Well, we invited the Seire gang over for cookies and tea and they wouldn't freakin leave! After alot of negotiation (and beer... ), we decided to let them stay for a while. This all seemed great, till they started bringing all their farm animals and strange hollow devices over. And dear lord please make them turn off the Backstreet Boys! If it's not one thing it's another. We're going to need a new couch. Uhg!

Well, either way, we want to welcome the more than 50 Seire members that are now part of the iCE family. They are a diverse group of skilled and devoted guys and gals. We like them, no matter what the authorities say. Hey Precurser, put that poor chicken down!

2. We Are Not Elitists We Just Work Hard. Or so we are told. quilt number twelve has been released with this pack. It is absolutely, the bomb! Featuring scribbles from Corpulent Cow, Root88, Funfetus, Darkhalo, Tetanus, Leonardo, Empyrean, Nokturnal, and our new boy Tinster and a host of other extremely talented (but not elitist) artists! Check it out!

3. In regard to the Seire boys and girls, Ien is going to be taking the lead for the photo manipulation artists. Ien was the former vice president of Seire, and will now be providing direction and assistance with quality control and new member applications. We're happy to have him. *hands Ien a cigar*

3a. Spot, former president of Seire, is now an Advisor for iCE. Spot will be working closely with Slothy and Mass Delusion to keep the group running and to help iCE expand and grow. Soon we will control everyone's thoughts. At least that's what we think.

4. There are new things on the drawing board as usual. We are always trying to come up with new shiny things for you to play with, cause you all have such short attention spans. Keep your dial on this channel for more updates and have a great month!

Huggles and things previously sane,

wheres the ansi
Where's the ansi?

I remember the day when ansi was everywhere and revered by everyone. If you were an ansi artist... well hell! People far and wide would travel to your house just to sit on your lawn and stare at your cocker spaniel. Women would perform pseudo-felacio on and about your body, add that to the lights, the mid 1990's euro pop music and the gold platted SUPAHFLY necklaces, it was a freakin' happenin. The ansi artist was the man and acted like the man.

Late night Rants on the IRC, the banning of people we didnt like, care for or just for the hell of it. The constant use of the word -hoe-, failing to meet pack submission deadlines and then replying to the inquiries of the staff with the preverbial *BITCH SLAP*... hoo haa we took no shit and did what we did with no worries about anybody but ourselves

We was Elite.

Nowadays whats going on is shamefull, a bunch of grown people, drawing great art ( and not using 16 color blocks i might add ) then not calling other people BITCHES! paying for and devoting entire web sites to QUILTING! *slap* good lord man, wheres the booze the debauchery the attitude?!

The sad lack of diva's in your new high tech post modernist 6meg video card culture is frightening.

*Sigh*

if you ask me i thing you quilt making bastards are WAY to interdependant.

Deeply Disturbed.

ps.

Where the fuck is the ansi BITCH!?

Re: wheres the ansi
hah, hey Deeply, good to hear from you. I hope life is treating you well. And of course, we do hang out on irc.ice.org in #ice, for you irc'ing folks. But yeah, no more debauchery :)

Oh, and don't step to the quilts, punk. We'll quilt your ass under the table any day of the week :)

About ansi..
It has been a while.. question? Any boards these days still running a nice modded ver of obv/2? Been looking for some old ld boards that must have gone telnetable with the times. Looking to get back into drawing ansi.. but I don't see much of it these days. I just checked acid. they basically carry none.

union and mOP forever.

Re: About ansi..
I'm running a modded version of SynchroNet (out of the box it's cheesy, but it's free) I'm not an ANSi artist, but have hacked and slapped together some menus and screens that are somewhat to my liking. If anyone wants to rediscover their ANSi/ASCii talents, send it over to me.

Re: About ansi..
hell yeah - well, sorta. people around CT might remember Thrash Inc, the first obv/2 board and home of Thrash, H/P/V/A/C, IIRG, et cetera, et cetera. he's got 20 or so different ansi menu themes for the board, plus archives of ansi art and your daily dose of virtual teenage social revolution. the board isn't always up (check http://thrashinc.tzo.com/ for connect details), last time i was there i had to talk to an old friend to get ahold of Thrash to fire up the software... drop me a line (aim:ynniv) if you're stuck. the real trick was finding an ANSI telnet client that could handle BBS style transfers (dataComet if you're running a mac) - right up there with remembering how the hell obv/2 works file transfers... f'in strange i tell you

oh yeah, 10bT is a might quicker than 2400

Re: Re: About ansi..
Use NET-TERM or MTelnet ... It'll emulate perfectly.

I'll have it back up soon, I'm working on the new server.

of music, art, and open source
i'm part of the moonfrog-records project. this is an open source (EFF open music license precisely) record label for mostly cyberpunkish electronica music

all the music by artists on the label is distributed for free, and a system for payment using paypal and cd purchases will be in place soon

my question here is, two of the upcoming cds have no cover art and are in need of it. if some of the artists here would want to try to do something inspired by the songs (preferably in the cd cover size, 5"x5.25" iirc) then please email [email protected] about it

the two cds will be
Reverb Project - Transmissions
at
http://moonfrog-records.com/artists/reverbproject
and
Body Hammer - Pyrexia
http://moonfrog-records.com/artists/bodyhammer

neither of the cds is fully done yet, so 2 and 3 tracks are up respectively.

if you have questions, the email is [email protected]
and mine personally is in the profile.
