You sunk his battleship!
Heh, both ships turned out interesting, and I like what happened to the upper left one.

The huts seem kinda "floaty", though, like they're not really on the ground -- their blurry shadows, lack of lighting on the objects, and perspective probably cause this. It also looks like you used the stamp tool to make those two wierd rhombuses in the water. I'm not against tool use, but here it's too obvious for my tastes, and I don't think those shapes really add anything.

Still, it's a good tile.

Re: You sunk his battleship!
Haha yep, I did use the stamp tool for those things in the water. I couldn't tell what the heck they were, (turles?) so I fudged it. I try to stay away from the stamp & clone tools in general, but just couldn't resist this time.

I'm not too happy with any of the tiles I've done for this quilt. I can't seem to pull off anything I'm satisfied with, so I think I'm going sit the rest of this quilt out. Maybe I should have put the huts on stilts? hehe ;-)

Re: Re: Re: You sunk his battleship!
Aww you flatter me... hehe

But I'm really having a hard time with these tiles lately. Wait till you see the one with the mermaid. Horrid blend and that's the best part of it. I can't believe I checked it in. I think I'm in need of a short hiatus.

Maybe seeing some of the new tiles crop up will help in the inspiration dept. too. Besides, I really need to work on my lack of skill in Flash. :-/

Alec, he wasn't criticising... :-)

::When it is good it deserves credit. not an opinion or judgment::

I can relate to you on that Slice, definately, since that's how I am. I've stated before that I either like something or I don't. I'm most critical of my own stuff, but with other peoples tiles, I don't notice the little mistakes like I do with my own. And if I do, I keep my opinions to myself (not suggesting anyone else should) since I'm no expert.

But I don't mind input from others. It helps me look at my stuff from someone elses POV and that can be helpful when I'm working on something. Hopefully I'll realize my mistakes early, correct them, and go on to make totally new mistakes! I do value the input I've seen on this site for the most part, unless it's someone being a jerk. Both your and Chris's input and/or opinions are most welcome!

So anyway... Thanks! ;-)

Yes,

Thats what im saying. Slice wasn't criticising you. He was mocking the people who gave you constructive criticism, which im all for (not the mocking...). Sorry if I came across the wrong way.

Ahh I see! I misunderstood that somehow, but it makes sense now ;-)

.
Those little parts you copy-pasted should be landing crafts of the main-ship ... well, a little bit too small to recognize. ;)
But i think it was the best idea to copy-paste them - and with the sinking-ship it looks quite good. ;)

So you're saying they're NOT turtles? ;-)

Re: by the way
Today, at bandcamp, the strangest thing kept happening! I noticed that each time I'd walk past someone, they would turn around & stare at me or whisper to the person next to them. All morning long I couldn't figure out what it was. My zipper was up, no foreign objects between my teeth, no boogers hanging from my nose. I was dressed as always: Chuck Taylors, jeans & jacket. But as you can imagine, I was starting to feel a little self-conscious.

So finally I walked up to this guy and I says, "WTF are you staring at chump?" And he said, "It's your head! OMG It's HUGE!" and something about a Ringling Bros. flier featuring my large mellon. Then it occurred to me. It must be from reading all of those complimentary posts on tiles! ;-)

(Just ignore me. I'm kinda bored today...)
