ireen. good job ;o) i think that will make the blending easier.

:-)
i wanted to keep the greenish part, i think the slightly purplish light blue in this quilt is too much and too purple.
i liked the composition better in my first one...this one's a little boring, composition-wise.

Re: :-)
hmmm.... i agree, i liked the composition better in the first try [1/3 to 2/3...versus the 1/2 to 1/2 it is now.] the middle ground looked a lot more realistc too, texture and colorwise. all i was concerned about with the first tile was the blend though, maybe the change is too much.

instead of removing the wall completely maybe it could have gradually disappeared behind the hill towards the right edge. and for the blend in the upper corners, all it really needed was a few strokes in the color and the direction of your upper diagonal neighbors work... you needn't have brought their style or color over half way into your own tile.

as far as the colors go in the quilt, i can't speak for anyone else but i tried to take my palette directly from the paintings in the Van Gogh Gallery, [and from my neighbors for continuity's sake.] also, as gecky suggested, the colors we see in his work probably faded and were likely much more vivid when Van Gogh painted a hundred years ago. [ i think the blues, purples and greens you're talking about can work well together http://www.vangoghgallery.com/painting/p_0391.htm ]

maybe a gentler compromise between the two tiles would be better. your call, just let me know if you want it back :o)

overdoing it again
thank you so much for your critique, Tony. I appreciate it.
I won't redo the tile, especially because someones already working on the tile next to it. I'll just live with it, next time I'll ty to do better...
