This is an icelandic house. Long time ago (not so much time ago) they used to cover the houses with land, then the grass arrives and it seems the ground was caved to build there the house :). Somepeople think Tolkien based the hobbits's houses on that, cause he studied north europe mithology and culture, and traveled this places. :)
The fog was not there, anyway. :)
