Hmm!
Your presentation is very clear here, and you did a good job deciphering the object below your tile! I would suggest three things, from one newbie to another:

1. Work on your shading. The textures in your work are a little flat and not as interesting as they could be. For instance, how about a little glossiness and bend to that photograph? And the treetop seems like a paper cutout -- could you give it some depth with some dark tones where it curves away from us? Cartoony style is one thing (and I think I did the tiles to the right and left of this one, which are in that style!) but there should still be a suggestion of contrast..

2. Drop the eye! :) Everyone does an eye. They're all over this quilt, and every other newbie quilt. How about making the subject of that polaroid something more interesting, like a miniature replica of your tile, or something crawling out of the frame?

3. Check the blending at the bottom of your tile. The dark line/glitchy look could be the other tiler's fault, but you've got to do your best to accomodate it. Continuing the pattern more closely that that person had chosen might have made a difference, but always check those borders and zoom way in to fix it. Have you read the tiles tutorial here? It helped me a lot, though I am still learning as well :P
